Obituary of Alma Jones
Alma V. Jones, 80, of Brigantine, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:55AM, surrounded by her beloved husband and loving children. She was born March 27, 1937 in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Her parents were Alice and Rollo Baker. She attended Pennsauken school system.
She graduated from Jersey City Medical Center's Nursing Program. Alma began her career as a Register Nurse at Newark's Presbyterian Hospital. She worked in the Maternity Ward welcoming many lives into the world.
Alma met her husband, Anthony Jones, while he was in college at Rutgers University, Newark. They married in 1960, moved from Newark to Cedar Grove, New Jersey in 1965, where they raised their family. Alma became a member of United Presbyterian Church of Cedar Grove in 1975. Education was important to Alma and she achieved her goal that all her children would attend college and receive their degrees.
Alma enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. She was famous for her lasagna which was enjoyed at family gatherings. Alma was fun and generous with a zest for life. She always invited others to come along to enjoy good times with her.
Alma's legacy will be cherished by: her devoted husband, Anthony Jones, Sr.; children, Anthony Jr. (Belinda), David (Tiffany), Sandra (Bruce) and Lorraine (Jim); grandchildren, Nia, Bruce, Ethan, Alexander, Bryce, Collier, Delanie, Shane and Lia; Sister, Constance Harris; Nieces, Joyce L. Jones, Carla Harris, Angie and Adrina Jones; as well as brothers and sister in law and many other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be 11AM, Friday, December 29, 2017, United Presbyterian Church of Cedar Grove, 155 Commerce Road, Cedar Grove.
