Obituary of Raul Santiago
Raul Santiago 81, of Pleasantville passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Shore Medical Center, Somers Point. He was born January 7, 1936, in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to Elisa Santiago and Rafael Almodovar.
Raul moved to New York City in the early 1950's and later to Atlantic City, New Jersey, not long after he became the head chef at Lido Restaurant. During this time he met the love of his life Jeanette. "Ralph", as he was affectionately called, would drive by Jeanette's place slowly hoping to see her. He would "stop at the drop of a dime" when she called his name. The two eventually married and moved to Pleasantville, New Jersey to raise a beautiful family. Years later Raul worked at Viking Yachts where he built yachts for many years.
Raul and Jeanette had five children: Raul Santiago, Jr., Tracy, Katrina, Raulisa and Tami Whitted.
He is predeceased by: the love of his life and wife, Jeanette Santiago; parents, Elisa Santiago and Rafael Almodovar; and 11 Siblings.
Raul leaves to cherish his memories: 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends who loved him dearly.
Home going service will be 11AM Friday, September 22, 2017, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9AM.
