Obituary of Johnnie Nichols
Johnnie Frank Nichols transitioned from his earthly home on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Johnnie was born in Sylvester, Georgia, to Mary W. and Anthony C. Nichols, Sr., on July 10, 1935.
He was educated in the Worth County Schools in Sylvester, Georgia. He was married to Annie Lou Jefferson. Through this union they were blessed with one son, Michael Nichols.
Johnnie was employed at Marine Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. He later moved to New York City, where he retired from the New York City Transit Authority. He also worked part-time for the New York City Board of Education.
Johnnie was predeceased by: parents, Anthony and Mary Nichols Sr.; sisters, Bernice Smith and Helen Carter; brother, Anthony C. Nichols, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 54 years, Annie L. Nichols; son, Michael Nichols; eight siblings, Mildred Nichols, Chicago, IL., Juanita Murph (Raymond), Orangeburg, SC., Bennie Nichols (Irene), Decatur, GA., Robert Hardy (Annie), Palm Bay, FL., Cassie Clark (Elzie), Albany, GA., Marilyn Fulton, Sylvester, GA., Wayne Nichols, Seattle, WA.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11AM Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9AM. Interment Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
