Obituary of Paul Moore
Chief Paul Wellington Moore, Sr., 74, of Pleasantville, passed away suddenly on August 26, 2017. Mr. Moore was born in Pleasantville, New Jersey and was a resident of Atlantic City and Pleasantville all of his life. Paul was the youngest of six kids, born to Pastor Elias and Evangelist Louise Moore on August 13, 1943.
Paul was educated in the Atlantic City School Systems and upon graduation attended Atlantic Community College. Paul worked for the Pleasantville Police Department and retired as Chief after serving twenty-seven years. There he earned several honors and awards during his career in law enforcement. Chief Moore’s working career included Atlantic City Expressway, Seaview Marriot and the FAA Tech Center.
Chief Moore enjoyed traveling, spending time with his close friends and family. On November 22, 1969, he married the love of his life for over forty-two years, Floretta Aikens. Chief Moore and his wife Floretta raised five children. Mr. Moore enjoyed raising his children with his wife and playing golf. He was an avid golfer.
Chief Moore was predeceased by his wife, Floretta; parents, Elias and Louise Moore; son, Delmar Moore Sr.; siblings, Augustine, James, Ernestine, Geraldine and Valerie.
He is survived by his children, Paul Jr. and Richard of Pleasantville, Devin (Deserae) and Andrea of Egg Harbor Township, Darielle of Brigantine; sisters-in-law, Loretta, Jojuan, LouAnn and Essie Aikens; brothers-in-law, Clarence, Barnett and Troy Aikens.
In addition, Mr. Moore is survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grands, a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will 11AM, Thursday, August 31, 2017, Shiloh Temple Apostolic Cathedral, 505 Madison Ave., Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
