Obituary of Karl Kimbrough
Karl Anthony Kimbrough, "Tony" 63, of Atlantic City slipped into his eternal sleep peacefully, after a brief illness surrounded by his family & friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, City Division.
Mr. Kimbrough was born in Portsmouth, Virginia March 31, 1954, raised in Atlantic City, attended the Atlantic City Public Schools graduating in 1973.
Mr. Kimbrough enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school during the period of the Vietnam War. Mr. Kimbrough received the National Defense Service Medal which was awarded to active military personnel during the time of a national emergency.
Mr. Kimbrough was employed as a Maintenance Engineer at the Atlantic City Medical Center in the 90’s. Karl also worked for Fairfield Resorts Inc., Oasis Outsourcing, Preferred Equities Corp., Beachview Nursing Center and was last employed at Royal Suites Healthcare Center of Galloway, NJ.
Karl Anthony “Tony” as he was affectionately and loving known was a private and quiet individual. Although he was a to “himself” what he enjoyed most was getting together with his family during holidays and the family reunions. He loved sons and his grandsons and cherished moments he had to spend with them.
Karl was preceded in death by his father, Willie James Kimbrough, Sr.; his mother, Cornelia “Connie” Kimbrough; brother, Willie James “Jimmy” Kimbrough Jr. and brother, Reginald “Reggie” Kimbrough.
He leaves to embrace his memory sons, Kawan Anthony Freeman-Kimbrough (Iris) of Thorndike, MA and Karl A. Freeman-Kimbrough of Atlantic City, NJ; the mother of his sons, Bertha A. Freeman of Atlantic City, NJ; his two grandsons, Kawan Anthony Freeman Jr., and Kamryn Ashton Freeman; his sisters, Bertha “Pat” Whitted of Fayetteville, NC, Andra C. Williams-Kimbough of Mays Landing, NJ and Debra R. Kimbrough of Atlantic City, NJ; nephews, Curtis Whitted and Zachary Kimbrough, neices Aisha Oliver, Latifa Williams, Kelly Whitted and Ebony Whitted and a host of great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 5PM-7PM, Friday, June 30, 2017, Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, NJ.
