Obituary of Patrick Johnson

Patrick Wilburg Johnson was born March 17, 1948 to the late Hermon and Claris (McBean) Johnson in Berbice, Guyana. Patrick peacefully began his final journey from earth to eternity on June 22, 2017. He went home to be with the Lord at 69 years of age, and still in strength.

Patrick graduated high school and went on to become a master tradesman as a Mason; and through his drive, he started his own construction business. As a young man, Patrick courageously ascended his family from the villages of Guyana, then from Suriname, to the dwelling place of America where he continued his tireless work as a Contractor, Foreman, and Consultant for over 30 years. He continuously paved the way for countless others as a lifeline and employer, while gaining acknowledgment, tremendous spoken and unspoken gratitude and respect of many.

Patrick or "Dadie", as he was affectionately called, always enjoyed listening to and playing music. He basked in watching old westerns, Chinese and other movies, but found his greatest joy in entertaining, spending time with family and friends, cooking and working on/reconstructing his many vehicles.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Johnson, whom he met in Georgetown, Guyana through family. He always said Patsy was "his best friend and devoted mother." Their gracious union of 50 years was blessed with nine children: Mark, JennyAnn, Yonnett, Vanetta, Leechen, Dexter, Naomi, Anthony, and Michael.

Patrick is proudly survived by his brother, Isaac; sisters, Jean, Sheila, Cilla, Pamela, and predeceased by brothers, Ivan, Lawrence, and Percy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Marcel, Mark, Victor Jr., Quashan, Stephon, Tyrese, Malachi, Annia, Jada, Nyack, Ammani, Nevaeh, Brandon, Naliyah, Jenessa, Necosi, Amelia, Eli, and Malcolm, five son-in-laws, four daughter-in-laws, and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and other family members. He will be sadly missed and always remembered as a strong, proud, loving man.

Funeral Services will be 11AM, Friday, June 30, 2017, Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Rd., Pleasantville, NJ 08232, where friends may call from 10AM.  Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ.
