Obituary of Annette Murray Floyd

Annette Goodridge-Murray-Floyd of Mays Landing (formerly of Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa) passed away peacefully at the Atlantic Regional Medical Center, Pomona on Sunday, June 4, 2017, with her daughter by her side. Annette was born and raised in Crozierville, Monsterrado County, Liberia unto the union of Shadrack Alexander Goodridge and Sarah Amanda Hollowonger Goodridge. She was the last of nine children. Annette attended the American Lutheran Mission School in Harrisburg, the St. John's High School in Cape Mount County, and the Monrovia College in Liberia. She was married to Roynell Abner Murray and the union was blessed with eight children. Annette migrated to the United States in 1981, met and married Younst Floyd of Staten Island. She became a US citizen in 1987. She lived in Staten Island where she was a member of the Union Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as a member of various church organizations including the women and hospital ministries. She was an evangelist and received a Certificate and Diploma as a Lay Evangelist and Lay Preacher and also served as an Elder of the church and sang in the choir. She worked for the United Cerebral Palsy organization in Manhattan until her retirement.

In 2008, due to failing health, Annette relocated to Mays Landing, New Jersey to live with her daughter, Annette Murray. She joined the Seashore Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pleasantville and continued to serve her Lord. She was a pillar of Strength to her family. She is predeceased by: Roynell Abner Murray, Younst Floyd and granddaughter, Kpingba.

Annette is survived by her children, Rainsford Rho Murray (Gwen), Afulabe Murray, Roydee Murray-Bernard, Lynnette Murray-Gibson, Olive Murray-Andrews (Kwayienee), Annette C. Murray, Roynelle A. Murray and Rexie Porte-Streeter (Ernest, Sr.); grandchildren, Luenne, Nathan, Nyoweh, Kpanna, Supuwuo, Koliawuo, Dannie, Archie, Yannick, Ariel, Tenomewah, Taiwo-Abner, Ernest, Jr, William Wade`; great grandchildren, Lahti, Naj, John, Nyla, Jasira, Janaan and Pierre; Nieces, Araba Abedu-Bentsi-Woart), and a host of other family and friends.

A viewing will be 5PM-7PM, Friday, June 23, 2017, Seashore Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Linden Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ. Funeral Services will be the next day 2PM, Saturday, June 24, 2017, Seashore Seventh Day Adventist Church. Entombment will be 10AM, Monday, June 26, 2017, in Hollywood Memorial Park & Cemetery, 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union NJ 07083. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Alzheimer's Association at Seashore Gardens Living Center, 22 West Jimmie Leeds Rd. Galloway Twp., NJ. 08205.
