Obituary of Jeanne Hynson
Jeanne Brown Hynson, age 87, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Willow Pond Senior Care in Statesboro, Georgia. Jeanne Brown was born on August 8, 1929 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She is the daughter of the late Benjamin and the late Delores (Booker) Brown.
Raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Jeanne attended Union Baptist Temple where she was nurtured in the foundations of Christian life. A respected and admired young lady, she graduated from Atlantic City High School then attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a 1951 graduate. Later, Jeanne attended Rutgers University receiving a Master of Social Work degree in 1957. She had a successful career as a psychiatric social worker. Jeanne retired from Gloucester County Mental Health Center in Woodbury, New Jersey as a counselor and director of mental health services. After retirement, she traveled with close friends extensively around the world enjoying new experiences.
Jeanne was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She influenced and guided others in Godly principles through her Bible study and as a Sunday school teacher. Jeanne was a faithful and active member of Living Word Bible Fellowship in Blackwood, New Jersey for 28 years. She was a Food Bank volunteer, taught Sunday school, and served on the Finance Committee. Jeanne was committed to Christian service and civic engagement. As recognition, she received the 2006 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Award.
For 22 years, Jeanne was married to Samuel H. Hynson. She leaves to cherish her memory: three brothers Charles ”Chucky” Brown, Ronald Brown, and Michael Brown; her loving cousins Fayth Parks and Wilbur “Jesse” and Bella Thomas; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins. She also has a host of cousins in Greenville, South Carolina. Because of Jeanne’s loving nature, she has several God-children including Lenore Uddyback-Fortson, Karen Allen and their families. Moreover, there is a host of friends and loved ones from around the world.
