Richard Jerome Harrison Jr. (Bubba) departed this world on January 30th in Mays Landing, New Jersey. Richard was born to Isabelle L and Richard J Harrison Sr., in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1941, and enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a weapons and self defense instructor during WWII. Richard was stationed in Denver, Colorado, where he met and married the love of his life Carrie Irene Curtis. He was a devoted husband and father of five children. He was a life long member of the Hamilton Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlantic City.
He retired from the Atlantic City Post Office after forty years of service. Richard found a second and third career at the Uptown Recreation Center and the Atlantic City Police Department. He and Carrie moved to Mays Landing in 2001 where he resided until his death. He was an avid reader and devoted fan of cable news. Richard always had a positive word and a smile on his face.
Richard was predeceased by: wife, Carrie; son, Richard III; parents, Isabelle and Richard Sr.; siblings, Evelyn, Charles and Joseph.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: son, Harold (Sally) of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Sharon (Art) of Mays Landing, New Jersey, Linda (Phyllis) of Plantation, Florida, Charmaine of Irving, Texas; daughter-in-law, Patricia of Warrenton, Virginia; and brother, Neil of Pasadena, California. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, February 2, 2018, at Hamilton Memorial United Methodist Church, 609 Arctic Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9AM.
